Battery life is important for PPV Firefighting-Fans because every firefighter should decide for himself when he no longer needs the high-pressure fan. BLOWHARD relies on integrated high-power batteries because they enable a loss-free energy transfer, a longer running time of the fans, and a longer life than is possible with replaceable batteries. In addition to battery temperature management, the integrated battery technology also enables the IP 67 standard. The devices are therefore dust & waterproof and are therefore also ideally suited for tough firefighting operations.
The fundamental goals for every BLOWHARD Firefighting Fan are the highest and industry-leading performance values. Here, not only the battery, motor, and electronics used are decisive, but also in particular the aerodynamic design of the fan unit, such as the rotor blades and their number, as well as the design of the air grille and much more. The decisive factor is how efficiently the fan is able to handle the power provided by the battery.
Performance without control is useless. This also applies to firefighting fans. Even the highest air volumes and the highest air pressure are of no use if they cannot be targeted and used efficiently at the point of use. The BLOWHARD High-Flow-Jet airflow management system takes advantage of the already high-performance values of BLOWHARD fans and directs them precisely to the desired location. It simply offers you more options and reserves. It makes BLOWHARD an unbeatable helper in fire and smoke management.
Not every location is the same. The BLOWHARD fan design allows you to continuously tilt the airflow up to 180 degrees and precisely adjust the airflow to the conditions at the deployment site. This stepless adjustment capability allows for a wide range of tactical settings and arrangements at the job site. BLOWHARD provides you with simple but highly effective and safe PPV ventilation, no matter what the nature of your deployment site looks like.
On the emergency site, every second counts. BLOWHARD units are designed to be deployed very quickly and with maximum effectiveness at the fire scene. Both, the lightweight and the small volume of the PPV ventilators are of crucial importance for rescuers. The units are light enough to be carried to the scene by a single person and take up little storage space on fire trucks.
BLOWHARD firefighting fans are designed and manufactured for use in the toughest fire scene conditions. Water, sand, impact, and heat make little difference to the BLOWHARD fans. No wonder, because they were developed together with firefighting professionals. Despite their lightness, no compromises are made on solid construction. The firefighter fans are suitable and tested for many years of use under the toughest firefighting conditions.
At the scene of a fire, every second counts. This applies both to the fire scene and to the rescuers as well as the possible victims. BLOWHARD high-pressure ventilators, which are indispensable in such rescues, are therefore ready for use extremely quickly. The firefighters’ concentration should be on the operation and tactics at the fire scene, not on the cumbersome set-up and operation of the firefighting ventilators. BLOWHARD fans are built in such a way that anyone can quickly set them up at the scene, even without explanation
As easy as that – Simply set down the BLOWHARD fan, align it and start the high-pressure fan, focusing full attention on the source of the fire. The operation of the equipment must not be a mystery. Electronic “gimmicks” are of little use, as concentration should be on the mission and mission-tactics, not on the operation of the equipment. Even without technical training, BLOWHARD fans are very easy to operate.
BLOWHARD PPV positive pressure ventilators are designed for low operating costs. On the one hand, the units offer very high mechanical quality combined with a very long service life. The fire department ventilators always provide you with appropriate reserves, which reduces the overall load on the ventilators. The availability of spare parts and corresponding warranty plans further reduce your operating costs. Components of the highest quality are installed which have been developed in-house and manufactured for this purpose. Only the most modern, reliable, tested, and certified battery technology is used. So that the rescuers do not face any surprises.
For more distant locations, you can rely on the wheelset of the large Commando fan. It makes it possible to transport the firefighting fan comfortably to the place of operation and does not take up any additional space on the fire truck. Valuable power resources on your part are available for hard work and not for transporting the pressure fans. Order your fan with these special accessories from BLOWHARD
With an appropriate suction and pressure hose, additional rescue options are created in smoke ventilation or pressure ventilation. The possibilities in tactical ventilation and especially in smoke extraction from trapped rooms increase. These suction and pressure hoses are now also available in a heat-resistant version. NEW – BLOWHARD ELEKTRO – Blowhard is the pioneer resp. the inventor of battery firefighting fans. Hardly anyone has more experience in this field of pressure ventilation. Nevertheless, the successful BLOWHARD BATTERY models are now also available as a PURE ELECTRIC version BLOWHARD ELEKTRO. The big advantage is the lower weight. All other performance values remain the same. Those who wish can easily upgrade their device with a rechargeable battery at a later date.
BLOWHARD firefighting fans increase extinguishing success and safety. Positive pressure ventilation during firefighting operations has become more and more an important part of firefighting practice over the years. While ventilation is already accepted and common practice in some countries, it is becoming increasingly important in Europe as well as worldwide, as the benefits are now undisputed and well-documented. This is also reflected in the number of different PPV-positive pressure ventilators now on the market, as well as the new technologies that are in daily use.
Structured procurement of positive pressure ventilators is thus becoming increasingly important. However, with the increasing success of battery-powered high-pressure ventilators, there are some new issues that we are trying to address. This applies equally to replacements for gasoline-powered high-pressure ventilators and to new purchases of battery-driven highpressure ventilators.
Three essential points are central to assessing the effectiveness of operation and thus the direction of investment. This is in addition to other important points such as warranty, service, operability, operational safety, and, of course, the stowage volume on the emergency vehicle.
BLOWHARD is an innovative, independent company that puts the needs, challenges, and requirements of firefighters at the heart of what it does when using firefighting fans and ventilators. BLOWHARD are firefighting fans that are developed in the field. For more than 10 years, BLOWHARD has exclusively manufactured PPV fans for fire departments that exceed previous industry standards. BLOWHARD introduced the first battery-powered fan to the market in 2011.
BLOWHARD is currently revolutionizing the effectiveness and efficiency of firefighting fans with its High-Flow-Jet airflow management system. This new and highly efficient generation of fans manages to replace electric and gasoline fans and even surpass their performance levels. The focus is on developing solutions that fire departments can easily integrate into their processes to make them more powerful and efficient. The performance and battery life of the firefighting fans play just as important a role as their reliability, ease of use, small footprint, and absolute robustness.
These ideas and innovative solutions are implemented at BLOWHARD’s headquarters in the picturesque Willamette Valley (USA) in western Oregon. BLOWHARD employees are passionate about what they do and strive to deliver the best product for firefighting operations from start to finish. On this foundation, BLOWHARD has evolved into a PPV company now trusted by many firefighters around the world.
BLOWHARD products are not just developed on the drawing board. Thousands of units are in daily use by firefighters around the world, constantly providing new insights that we take up in cooperation with active firefighters and implement in our battery-powered fans. This is to achieve even more effective and safer use of your first responders.
BLOWHARD Charging Electronics – Easy Charging
Always charge or discharge a battery in the perfect way. Most of the time, the wrong treatment results in decreasing battery life. An intelligent charging electronic, which takes over this task, therefore preserves your battery, extends your life span, takes over the battery and charge management, and additionally ensures short charging times on the fire truck. This all happens automatically when the BLOWHARD fan is connected to a mains socket and completely without additional and space-consuming external chargers.
In the BLOWHARD pressure ventilator is built everything is needed for a long and carefree operation. Only 230V is plugged in on the vehicle and everything else is done by the firefighting fan itself. There is no need to carry additional batteries and equipment. There is no mess with cables on the vehicle or uncertainty about which charger is the right one for which battery, as well as no danger of physical damage to removable batteries.
BLOWHARD Power Electronics – Always Maximum Power
The power electronics allow you to always and automatically have full power available at the point of fire. It also ensures maximum battery life. Why? Through optimal temperature control! The battery temperature is measured and the firefighting fan power is always kept at the maximum possible level. Battery overheating is one of the main factors for short battery life.
Some manufacturers have additional turbo buttons to increase the power to maximum values. Turbo Buttons are usually only installed because the battery has no temperature control and therefore the normal power must be lower and cannot be dynamically controlled by temperature control as with BLOWHARD. With continuous maximum power, the battery would therefore simply be defective after prolonged use, because it would overheat.
When operating the device, care should be taken to ensure the simplest possible operation. Operating a panel or buttons that are too small or complicated menu navigation can cause problems for firefighters in hectic operations. Almost always firefighters work with gloves, which of course limits their capabilities somewhat. In the field, fast and simple operation is what counts.
BLOWHARD Dual-Power – Switch with ease
Blowhard firefighting fans can seamlessly switch between battery and mains power without interruption, requiring no battery changes and minimal attention during operation. Every BLOWHARD fan can also be operated as an electric-only version. Not every fan has this capability and sometimes requires appropriate attention from the firefighter when transitioning between these modes of operation.
Complex functions, which have to be operated by first responders, unnecessarily complicate the operation. For example, wake-up functions for pressurized ventilators make operation more complex and often require increased attention to the apparatus
BLOWHARD Large Battery – Big is Beautiful
BLOWHARD uses the largest batteries possible to avoid high load spikes and therefore temperature spikes during power delivery. The power consumption and power output of batteries is limited. If you go to the limits of the battery, its life will be shortened. If you choose a large battery, you can avoid this peak load. This greatly extends the life of the integrated batteries.
Exchangeable batteries are also often problematic and are not used by BLOWHARD for good reason. On the one hand, the connectors lose and prevent the transfer of maximum power. On the other hand, the batteries cannot be run at the power limit because very often there is no temperature measurement in the battery. The result is short battery life cycles and increased operating costs. Additional batteries on the vehicle mean a safety risk. This is especially true if the batteries may be damaged. Replaceable batteries can be damaged more easily than built-in batteries, which enjoy certain shock protection in the device.
BLOWHARD fan design – A good and solid construction
The rotor and ventilation grille of BLOWHARD firefighting fans have been specially designed for firefighting tasks. They guarantee a maximum build-up of air volume and air pressure with minimum energy consumption. The reason: With a battery-powered fan, only limited amounts of energy are available that must be used efficiently. If the fan has an inefficient fan unit you need a large fan battery and the weight increases.
BLOWHARD High-Flow Jet – Power without control is useless
BLOWHARD High-Flow Jet airflow management combines the advantages of jet airflow with those of cone airflow. As a result, the units offer firefighters a range of application options with appropriate reserves. It is precisely the reserves in the operation of a pressurized ventilator that are crucial and ultimately ensure greater safety and freedom of application in operational and tactical firefighting operations. This also applies in particular to air performance.
The only question is what to compare in terms of air performance. Often different things are compared here. What is really measured? The direct airflow or the generated airflow? How long can the firefighting fan really deliver this power at full load? Most name and market the higher generated airflow value, but can only maintain this over a very short time – Desired clarity brings here the new standard DIN 14963 – BlowHard firefighters fans were one of the first and few tested and comply with the new standard DIN 14963 for portable ventilation equipment. The new standard promises a much better comparability of the firefighting fans. Such a standard was missing before. The methods used for testing also left a lot of room for interpretation and could hardly be related to real conditions in practice.
BLOWHARD Lightweight Construction – Just Ruggedized
The BLOWHARD firefighting equipment design was developed together with firefighters in the field and is characterized by extremely high load capacity with low weight and equipment volume. The low weight is not a direct result of low material usage but is the consequence of a well-thought-out overall system. This includes the design features as well as an optimal fan unit and a harmoniously matching battery.
But what is really Ruggedized? If strong-sounding materials are used? Or rather when the pressure ventilators have been tested and improved in tough use? For example, steel and aluminum should be used where it makes sense and not because it is cheaper to produce than a plastic injection mold. Metal can bend and cause permanent damage to the firefighting ventilators if used in the wrong place, and non-heat-resistant plastic can melt and ruin the application.
BLOWHARD quick connectors – With speed in action
BLOWHARD firefighting fans are easy and quick to use. The important thing is to manage the firefighting operation in the best possible way, not your firefighting fan. No one wants to allocate valuable firefighting resources just for managing the fan units. Strong pot magnets, for example, enable BLOWHARD ventilators to quickly attach accessories such as water rings or hoses within seconds.
BLOWHARD Ergo-Fold – Wherever you like
The airflow of a BLOWHARD firefighting fan can be adjusted steplessly and easily by up to 180 degrees. Ergo-Fold thus enables firefighters to adapt the fan to any operational situation and thus ensure optimum pressure build-up in buildings. No matter if it is a staircase or the pressure build-up in a basement compartment. This is done in a simple, intuitive, and stepless way, even in inaccessible locations.
BLOWHARD wheel set – Freedom on wheels
Wheels and handles should not hinder operation and should not take up space on the application vehicle. Nevertheless, you don’t want to carry the fan to the job site forever and prefer to save your strength for the main tasks ahead. The wheelset for the BLOWHARD Commando can be folded away, including the handle, saving important space for additional equipment on the Truck.
BLOWHARD Protection Class – It’s still all there
Things usually get dirty during operations. Extinguishing water, dust, dirt, and, above all, aggressive fumes are not uncommon. Not every firefighting ventilator can handle these conditions equally well. This is exactly where it is decided whether your investment in pressure ventilation has paid off. Do the devices break down or not? BLOWHARD firefighting fans are protected against dust and water at the IP-67 level, and even standing in water usually doesn’t bother them. The result: less need for service and cleaning and thus low operating costs
